The morning class is a fun and dynamic professional movement session that will prepare us for an afternoon of devising workshops. Starting with a unique warm-up designed to develop detailed articulation of the body, the morning class swiftly moves towards more vigorous physical tasks. Through movement sequences and improvisations we arrive at a more deliberate and conscious use of the body. Focusing on each individual’s unique strengths and background (both actors and dancers are welcome!), Clare will draw on her many years of performance experience and the use of both natural and stylized choreography to develop an intelligent and expressive body.
If you are an actor who ‘doesn’t dance’ or a ‘dancer who doesn’t act’ or someone who does both! this is probably a workshop for you! These daily workshops will act as a bridge between the usual trainings that both these disciplines offer. Making the Ordinary Extraordinary is a week of workshops specifically designed to recognize the dramatic and narrative potential in sequences of pedestrian movements. They will provide ideas for devising and inventing exciting and visceral physical theatre, whilst also training to use the body more expressively and efficiently. Each day will have it’s own technical focus ( how we are affected by music? what is dialogue? how do we control minimal and exaggerated states, observation & mimicry, verticality etc.) and they will build upon each other. Clare is a firm believer that given the right creative environment, performers can access intelligent and unknown places within themselves that lead to both personal and professional development.
